ONT stands for Optical Network Terminal. It allows your home network to communicate with Verizon's fiber network. It is a fairly large box, usually mounted in a garage, basement, or outside wall. Verizon's fiber line enters it, and a telephone, CAT5, and/or coax line exit it.
