Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial network

Hybrid fiber-coaxial is the type of communication delivery infrastructure used by most cable companies. HFC uses optical fiber for the network backbone only, connecting the wire center to a terminal in the service area. However, interconnected coaxial cable is then used to connect the terminal to the hundreds, or sometimes thousands, of homes in the area, essentially sharing bandwidth with the whole neighborhood. The result is slower download capability and more potential TV interference than with an all-fiber FTTP system.
